La Academy Of Country Music (ACM) fue creada en 1964 en Los Angeles (California) como Country & Western Music Academy. Mientras la Country Music Asssociation fue creada en Nashville en 1958, The Academy en su origen nació para promocionar la música country realizada en el oeste de los Estados Unidos. Ello explica que en sus primeros años fueran artistas relacionados con el sonido Bakersfield quienes acapararan los premios (Buck Owens o Merle Haggard)
El pasado 2 de Marzo The Academy Of Country Music anunció todos los eventos que se celebrarán en la semana llamada The Week Vegas Goes Country. Entre los diversos actos programados, destacan la ceremonia de entrega de los prestigiosos premios el próximo 18 de abril en el MGM Grand Garden Arena de Las Vegas, presentada como viene siendo ya tradicional Reba McEntire. Este año se rendirán honores a la carrera artística de Brooks & Dunn, uno de los dúos más importantes de la historia -hoy ya separados tras veinte años juntos- a través del espectáculo Brooks & Dunn - The Last Rodeo, a celebrar al día siguiente, el 19 de abril en el mismo recinto.
